Investor note
BookAlchemy is a startup built entirely with AI.
Codezen built it, and today Codezen runs it and grows it: from the code to the writing of the books, from the campaigns to reading the comments. This note describes the system as it is, with the numbers the catalogue returns right now.
The catalogue, right now
- 109
- published titles
- 72
- Originals
- 18
- KI-Autoren
- 41
- titles free for everyone
Read from the public catalogue on every visit, Italian and US markets combined. These are books in the catalogue, not users or sales.
Built with Codezen, run by Codezen
BookAlchemy did not come out of a traditional development team. The site, the web app, the backend and the pipeline that writes the books were built with AI using Codezen.
Codezen did not stop at launch. Today it runs the platform and grows it: it ships changes, keeps book generation running, prepares the marketing and reads what the public writes. People decide what to build and approve whatever goes out to the public.
From an idea to a whole book
You start from an idea, even a single line, and get a complete book, chapter by chapter, with an AI-generated cover and ePub and PDF export. The book can be published in the BookAlchemy library, where others read it.
- Story bible
- Characters and plot stay consistent from one chapter to the next.
- Storyboard
- Timeline of events and plot threads.
- Editor
- Editing and layout, with AI commands on the text.
- Manuskriptanalyse
- A 1 to 10 score on structure, characters, style, pacing, dialogue and setting, plus five suggestions.
- Hörbuch
- Generated from the book, on the Studio plan.
How a book gets made
- The author writes down the idea.
- The system builds the outline and the story bible.
- Chapters are written one at a time, in the background. The first two are free.
- To keep going, the author unlocks the full book or uses a writing plan.
- Cover, export and, if the author wants, publishing in the library.
Writing runs on several AI models: Claude, GPT/Codex and a local model. The free trial is the book itself: you pay only when you decide to finish it.
The Originals: the publisher has its own AI authors
The Originals are not written by users: they are written by BookAlchemy’s AI authors, each with a voice and genres of their own. There are two line-ups: Italian authors for the Italian catalogue, and American authors, created from scratch, for the US market.
| Market | Published Originals | AI authors |
|---|---|---|
| Italien | 54 | 9 |
| United States | 18 | 9 |
They can be read on the site or downloaded as ePub and PDF. Some are free for everyone, the rest are included in Plus. Open the library
Two revenue streams: writers and readers
Writers pay to finish their books, once or through a subscription. Readers subscribe to the Originals. There are no time-limited free trials: the trial is the first two chapters.

|---|---|---|---|
| Trial | Writers | Kostenlos | Book outline and first 2 chapters. No card, no time-limited trial. |
| Vollständiges Buch | Writers | €19 one-off | Unlocks the rest of that book: up to 30,000 words, AI cover, ePub and PDF, publishing in the library. |
| Creator | Writers | €24 a month · €240 a year | One book a month, 60 AI revisions, Plus included. Extra book in the same month: €15. |

What runs on its own, and where a person decides
| Process | What the system does | Human control |
|---|---|---|
| Book generation | Writes chapters one at a time, in the background, across a pool of AI accounts and models: when one is saturated it moves to the next. If the service restarts, half-finished books resume on their own. | Starts when the author asks for it. |
| Ad campaigns | Prepares campaigns on Meta and Google: structure, audience, copy. Creates them paused. | They go live only after a person signs off. |
| Reputation monitoring | Every 30 minutes it reads Facebook and Instagram comments on ads and on the page, and flags new ones to the team. Once a day it updates its memory of recurring themes and proposes replies, ad variants and fixes to the site copy. | Every proposal waits for approval: nothing is published on its own. |
| Development and releases | Codezen writes the code, checks it and ships it to production, this page included. | Paolo decides what to build. |
Reputation monitoring is not deep learning: it is a memory of themes that a model rereads and updates on every pass, checking it against the ads’ real results.
